Feed the Shores was established in February 2019 for the children attending schools within the Saint Clair Shores School districts. Through volunteer efforts within Avondale Elementary we saw a clear need for nutritious meals to be provided for children on the weekend. This is just one of several elementary schools where 100% of the children qualify for free lunch. Currently we are providing weekend food for 130 children in one elementary school, but over 1,000 children would qualify for the program in just the South Lake School system alone. Our mission is to provide food stability to those who would otherwise go hungry in the Saint Clair Shores school districts.

TRIVIA NIGHT POSTPONED
Blessings in a Backpack-Feed the Shores will be hosting a Trivia Night on March 11, 2023 to raise funds to support their program which provides weekend food to hunger insecure children. Please purchase a ticket to attend the event, sponsor one of the many opportunities or donate for the raffle. Click below for the event flyer and sponsorship opportunities.
On December 1, 2022 the second annual Ladies Christmas Dinner was held and it was a wonderful way to usher in the holidays with a dinner and relaxing evening for all. For 2023 we will again be hosting this event to support Blessings in a Backpack-Feed the Shores. Check back in the summer for updates on the December date and other event information.
How Can You Help?
Volunteer
Volunteer – Volunteers are needed weekly to pack the backpacks (1 hour commitment) with other opportunities arising. As we grow our need for volunteers to help pack the backpacks and distribute the food will grow too. Please sign up as a volunteer and we will email you all opportunities.
Donate – A $155 donation provides food for one child every weekend throughout the school year. You can donate right now by clicking the DONATE button.
Fundraising Events – As a participant, a sponsor or provide a donation for auction or raffle. We have two events this year, our Trivia Night in March and the Ladies Christmas Dinner in December. Click on the event flyer for more details.
